Daisy Jones and the Six.

 

Welcome back for a new article! This time, I'm going to write about one of my favorite book ever which is ... Daisy Jones and the Six !

Daisy Jones and the Six is a novel written by the American author Taylor Jenkins Reid. It was published in 2019 and has 400 pages.

The story takes place during the 1970's, on the West Coast of the United States. Daisy Jones and the Six is the most famous music band of the moment. They draw crowds and fill stadiums around the world. This book is written as an interview with the members of the group. They all relate their different experiences as rock stars and their everyday life on tour. Between parties, alcohol, drugs, fame and euphoria, we discover unique and original characters. However, on July 12 in 1979, the band broke up after their most mythical concert. No one knew the reason for their separation until they revealed their side of the story in this interview.

First of all, I found it difficult to get into the story because it was my first time reading a book written as an interview. It was very original and I've ended up really enjoying this style of writing because it felt like you had more intimate access to the thoughts of the characters. Each member of the group has his or her own personality and I enjoyed discovering the same story from different perspectives. Moreover, you can really feel the 1970's vibes throughout the book! Daisy Jones clearly represents this wild and free spirit of a young singer, living in the USA and touring the country with her band. The topics covered are very diverse and we get a complete picture of the life of a rock star, with all its advantages and disadvantages. Finishing this book broke my heart because i didn't want to leave Daisy Jones and the Six. I highly recommend this read if you like travel, music (especially rock), the 1970's, complex relationships and celebrity life! 

Finally, for me, what made this book so special were the songs of the band which perfectly reflect their story. The author took care to write the lyrics of these fictional songs and this is a detail that I really enjoyed.
